A Brief History Of Craig
"Craig Signals Will Make Your Ears Cry".
-Eli Kelly
Hi. What I'm trying to do here is find a channel for the music I've written and recorded in this life. I tried making an album when I was 17. It was shit. I mean just really bad. I followed up by recording a second shit album, which I did not release.

The problem was I had no foundational experience. I was 17 and I was from southeast Iowa. So I got sick of singing about nothing and decided to explore this life a little instead of continuing to act like I knew what I was talking about (I still do that sometimes). I moved to Portland in 2004. I started taking 911 calls in 2006.

A few years into that I wrote with my friend Adam Cerrillo on a project called "What You Need", after the Twilight Zone episode. Those songs ended up on a couple unreleased recordings, and some of them were pretty good. I got really into David Bazan's "Headphones" project and made my own acoustic electro-pop album that I called "Dog Politics". That turned out pretty good too. That one was followed up by another full album that I was planning on calling "Craig Caves" before I did, in fact, cave and never found the space or energy to release those songs.

I had to leave Portland 911. If you live in the city, you can probably understand why. I had poured over a decade of my adult life into a mission that ended up damaging my wellness a little bit. My wife asked me to leave before it killed me. So we did. After a year or so of soul rebuilding I went back to taking 911 calls at a new agency. So far so good.

I'm gonna release all these songs and any new stuff I come up with under this project. This will be the last project, and I hope to be building it for years to come. Enjoy these songs. Be encouraged.
